Quarterly CCTC Orphan Ministry Board Meeting - The next CCTC Quarterly Board meeting will be held on March 18th. Watch the CCTC Orphan Ministry Facebook Page for time and location details. Anyone interested in this ministry is invited and encouraged to attend! Kids are welcome, but no formal childcare is available.

Coffee Talk Group for Moms (or Moms-to-be) of Adopted/Foster Children - Coffee Talk is a fun opportunity to make friends, share stories, pray together, etc. Coffee Talk occurs on the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30PM at the Shari's Restaurant on Columbia Center Blvd. in Kennewick.

Burger Night for Dads (or Dads-to-be) of Adopted/Foster Children - If you have ever considered fostering or adopting kids, please come join us to eat meat, too. Bring your friends! Second Tuesday of every month at 6:30PM at Bob's Burgers and Brew.

CCTC Orphan Ministry Awards 6th Grant - The CCTC orphan Ministry recently awarded its 6th financial grant to a local family that is adopting 2 children from Ethiopia! Praise God!

Empowered to Connect Conference - This conference will feature Dr. Karyn Purvis, a leading expert in the field of research-based interventions for at-risk children. It will be an invaluable experience for parents who seek to find hope and healing for adopted or fostered children. This is alo a wonderful opportunity for families considering an adoption or foster care placement. Conference Dates and Locations: April 8-9, 2011 in Denver, Colorado and September 23-24, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee. Click here for more details.

Federal Adoption Tax credit Expiring - Unless Congress intervenes, the federal adoption credit will decrease from $13,170 in 2011 to $5,000 in 2012. Furthermore, the tax credit is currently "refundable", which means taxpayers get al $13K returned to them on their 2011 returns. In 2012, it will return to a "non-refundable" credit, which mens it is limited to the amount of your tax liability and any amounts in excess are "rolled over" to the subsequent tax year. Therefore, 2011 is an exceptionally important year for families considering adoption. Readers should consult a qualified financial expert for their specific situation.

IRS Issues Form 8839 for 2010 Tax Year- The IRS released a final version of Form 8839 ("Qualified Adoption Expenses") for the 2010 tax year on February 9, 2011.
